ThyssenKrupp Steel places order for roll grinder revamps

In the course of the reconstruction works at their Bochum hot rolling mill finishing line, ThyssenKrupp Steel AG placed an order with WaldrichSiegen for the upgrade of three roll grinders

After revamping, the machines will meet the increased precision requirements demanded by the new roll stands. With the B-axis, a concept developed and licensed by WaldrichSiegen, demanding CVC profiles of the work rolls can be machined with tight tolerances: at a height of curve of 0.1 mm, a maximum shape deviation of 0.002 mm/m is guaranteed. The new CP roll measuring systems optimizes the grinding process and provides for a complete documentation of the roll geometry.

Our scope of supply includes a complete electrical revamp of the grinders, including installation of a new WaldrichSiegen PGC10 (ProfiGrind Control) CNC control. Two grinders will be equipped with new grinding carriages.

Reason for ThyssenKrupp Steel AG to place this order was to adapt the design standard of their work roll grinders to today's state-of-the-art level. After modernization, the three grinders will operate with the precision and efficiency of a new machine.
